Cemetery of Casabermeja

The cemetery of Casabermeja is one of the most peculiar in Andalusia. It was built in the 18th century and has been declared a Cultural Heritage of Special Interest by the Andalusian government since 2006. Due to the architectural form of the niches, which are divided into three parts: At the bottom (door for the storage of the dead), in the middle (gravestone) and at the top (front with architectural decorations), many visitors have thought that the dead are buried standing up in Casabermeja.

in a unique and original cemetery, which is worth a visit. Declared a Historic-Artistic Monument by the Junta de Andalucía, it is a small city of the dead, made up of a group of original pantheons, burial mounds and battlements, built according to the basic rules of popular architecture. In 1980 it was therefore declared a National Monument.

Due to the architectural shape of the niches, which are divided into three parts: At the bottom (door for the storage of the deceased), in the middle (gravestone) and at the top (front with architectural decorations) many visitors thought that in Casabermeja the dead are buried standing up.
